Parkopedia, the world's leading parking service provider, has announced that it’s off-street parking service is now available across the entire BMW vehicle range in China. The parking service is available as the BMW "Smart Parking" application, which is embedded in the latest BMW operating system 7.0. It can be accessed via the BMW Group’s recent over-the-air iDrive 7.0 infotainment system update for connected services or pre-installed on vehicles produced from September 2020 onwards.
This collaboration is an extension of Parkopedia’s existing customer relationship with the BMW Group that provides market leading digital parking services to their drivers. The latest update enables the vehicle to intuitively send out parking space availability recommendations to the driver as they approach their destination.
Parkopedia provides detailed parking information including prices, opening hours, precise location and dynamic space availability in all major cities across China. In addition, Parkopedia can also provide integrated transaction services to help drivers pay for parking on the move, via the in-vehicle system or their smartphone. Parkopedia delivers a complete seamless parking solution to OEMs and map navigation providers with existing relationships with China’s leading mapping organisations including Autonavi, Navinfo and Tencent.
Hans Puvogel, Chief Operating Officer at Parkopedia, said: "BMW is synonymous with premium experiences on a global scale, and this is certainly epitomised across China. Parkopedia and BMW have aligned ambitions in providing the ultimate driving experience for their drivers and we are confident the accuracy of our data and quality of our coverage will continue to deliver on this. We have already seen the success of our services outside of China with BMW and we are honoured to extend this to such an important market for both companies."
