Parkopedia, the British Parking Association and other BPA members today launched a dedicated microsite that will enable the UK’s National Health Service (NHS) staff, health and social care workers, as well as NHS volunteers, to quickly and easily find free parking locations.

Built in-house by Parkopedia, the world’s leading parking services provider, the new microsite, which can be found at www.nhs-freeparking.co.uk, contains more than 1 million parking spaces at car parks, privately owned spaces and driveways across England.

This platform has been designed to support the government’s COVID-19 free parking scheme for these critical workers. It is hoped that this will allow them to save time as they focus on supporting the national effort. The site shows how to locate available free parking and whether registration or a pass is needed to confirm eligibility.

Workers looking to use the site simply:

  1. Visit the site www.nhs-freeparking.co.uk
  2. Click to access the dedicated microsite hosted by Parkopedia and enter your desired destination
  3. Select your preferred parking location
  4. Check and read instructions – note you may need to register in advance
  5. Park!

Parkopedia developed the microsite to pre-select parking locations participating in the government’s free parking scheme, in this joint initiative between Parkopedia, the British Parking Association and its members YourParkingSpace and JustPark, which is supported by the wider parking community.

Parkopedia Founder Eugene Tsyrklevich commented, “We are delighted to be able to offer key workers in England a quick and easy way to find free parking at this critical time, supporting workers who prefer to use private vehicles for travel. This pandemic is a global concern - as a global company with its head office in London, we are honoured to be able to play a small part in helping the NHS in its fight against COVID-19."

NOTES

  1. The new site is available at www.nhs-freeparking.co.uk
  2. This scheme currently only applies in England.
  3. NHS staff, health and social care workers and NHS volunteers (critical care workers) will not need to register in advance for council operated parking but will need to do one of the following to prove their eligibility:
    1. Display the universal government parking pass, available through their employer, in their windscreen,
    2. Display a permit already issued for COVID-19 free parking from the local authority operating the car park,
    3. Display any other evidence which has been agreed as valid by the local authority operating car park
